Three Keys to Success
1. Preparing for the Praxis Exams
According to ETS...unprepared candidates represent the majority of failures
 | Students overestimate their preparedness
 | 90% of candidates leaving tests say they did OK |
 | Many of them are mistaken |
 | 33% leaving tests say they…
 | Didn’t review the TAAG |
 | Didn’t review texts or notes |
 | Didn’t prepare in any way |
 | These represent the majority of failures |
|
|

Know How to Take the Praxis Exams
 | On 0091 the multiple choice test... answer all the questions
 | Leave no multiple choice questions unanswered |
 | Eliminate unlikely choices then guess from the rest
|
|
 | On 0092 the analysis and design questions you should follow my guidelines for answering
constructed response questions - See the
General Tips page
|
 | There are lots of diagrams and you will have to read charts and graphs on both the
Content Knowledge and Constructed Response tests.
 | Most of the diagrams have to do with motor development. |
 | For example, looking at an two different illustrations, can you determine which
illustration depicts the more mature motor skill performance?
|
|
 | There are also some charts on interpreting and analyzing fitness and wellness data.
 | For example, if given a FitnessGram printout, could you determine the fitness level of
that child and design a fitness program specifically for him or her? |
|
3. The Praxis State of Mind
Understand the "Developmental Perspective"
 | It is a disposition, an attitude, or a way of looking at physical education |
 | It is the dominate point of view in physical education today
|
 | Remember that "developmentally appropriate physical education" is the model for the
Praxis physical education exams
|
 | Get into the "Praxis State of Mind" and take a "developmental perspective"
into the test with you. In my opinion, understanding physical education from a developmental
perspective is essential to doing well on the Praxis Physical Education Exams.
 | I have included some pages on the developmental perspective. You may want to visit
those pages now or you may wait until you finish this page. Just be sure to include the
"developmental perspective" in your test preparations.
|
 | The developmental perspective and Motor Development provides the background knowledge
necessary for correctly answering many of the questions. |
