Principles of Physical Education

In the Physical Education: Movement Forms - Analysis and Design (0092) constructed response questions you will be asked to identify one principle of motor learning, motor development, exercise physiology, or biomechanics that you used to design your fitness program or learning experiences. Furthermore, you will be asked to tell how that principle was appropriately applied in your answer. But most importantly, the scorers will be looking to see that the principle you identified was appropriately applied.

In my experience, many students are hard pressed to name a principle under these testing conditions, much less explain how they used one in this context. Below you will find find some general principles that can be applied to a wide variety of circumstances. These are not the only not the only principles that you could cite, but they will serve you well on the constructed response test. I suggest you commit yourself to using using these principles in your answer.

When answering the constructed response questions, I advise you to read the whole question and decide on the principle that you will apply before you start answering the question. This will help you construct an answer that will score well. Finally, it is important that you do a good job explain the principle and how you applied it. Many students gloss over this part of the question or rush through it because of time constraints. This is a sure way to lose points. Plan for this part of your answer before you get started!
